About Sharkstopper

Diver wearing Sharkstopper Shark RepellentSharkstopper was founded by Brian and Catherine Wynne. The idea for a shark repellent came in the year 2001. In 2001, the number of shark attacks was higher than normal. Mr. Wynne investigated and found that there was little research in the area of acoustics and their use in repelling sharks.

In 2006, Ralph Collier, a Great White and Tiger shark expert, came on board as a consultant. Joseph Creen Jr. a financial consultant joined in 2007. Our latest member of the Sharkstopper team is Dr. Erich Ritter, one of the world’s top experts on shark behavior and shark attacks. Dr. Ritter’s research station will be made available to Sharkstopper for studies, testing and endorsement.

Our research has been positive and exciting. The research has taken place at the Seattle Aquarium, the “Shark lab” in the Bahamas, Hawaii, Isla De Guadalupe, Mexico and Florida. Shark species tested were, Caribbean Reef, Lemon, Sand, Nurse, Thresher, Black Tip, Tiger, Hammerhead, Bull and the Great White.

Sharkstopper has received three patents. A fourth patent is pending. These patents will protect the release of our initial products. A trademark for the name “Sharkstopper” was also granted.

Initially, Sharkstopper will produce three products: a personal repellent, watercraft repellent and a diver repellent. Additional repellents will be produced for commercial fishermen, the military, coast guard and law enforcement agencies. Eventually, the cruise line and aviation industries will be penetrated.

This industry includes a few small companies. Currently, these companies make up a small sample of the shark industry. Sharkstopper will be very aggressive in taking advantage of this situation.

The final prototype version of our Watercraft Repellent is complete and ready for final testing. After testing is approved, it will go to a contract manufacturer for mass production, distribution and sales.
